This Easter Sunday, while many gather around festive tables and traditions, I\u2019d like to spotlight a place that beautifully blends history, architecture, and a touch of playful innovation: the Basilica of Saint-Denis<\/strong>, just outside Paris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Gothic masterpiece in its own right, this year it\u2019s also home to an Easter initiative that truly resonated with me \u2014 not just as an interior designer, but as someone who believes in making beauty accessible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Basilica of Saint-Denis: Architecture as Light, Storytelling, and Structure<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

For architecture lovers, Saint-Denis is more than just a church \u2014 it\u2019s the birthplace of Gothic architecture<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the 12th century, Abbot Suger reimagined sacred space, introducing soaring vaults, ribbed arches, slender columns, and radiant stained glass that ushered light into the sacred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These aren’t just stylistic elements \u2014 they\u2019re emotional tools<\/strong>, carefully calibrated to create awe and reverence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As an interior designer, I\u2019m struck by how this space uses the same core principles we apply in contemporary design: harmony between light, structure, and meaning<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saint-Denis is a place that guides the eye, shapes the body\u2019s movement, and invites reflection \u2014 just like any thoughtfully designed interior should do.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Easter, for the Young \u2014 and for Architecture<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

To celebrate Easter 2025, Saint-Denis Basilica is hosting a unique event that opens its historic grounds to a younger audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Easter Monday<\/strong>, children are invited to join a chocolate egg hunt<\/strong> in the basilica\u2019s garden, alongside creative workshops<\/strong> where they decorate Easter bells and eggs. The event also includes a guided tour tailored for children<\/strong>, introducing them to the space’s architecture and history in a playful, engaging way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In just two hours, kids explore history not through textbooks, but through experience, creativity, and play<\/strong>. And personally? I think it\u2019s brilliant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But initiatives like this remind us that beauty isn\u2019t a privilege. It\u2019s a language<\/strong> we can all speak \u2014 especially if we start young.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Design isn\u2019t just about objects or interiors \u2014 it\u2019s about creating meaningful experiences<\/strong>. Whether I\u2019m crafting a living space or a retail environment, my goal is to make people feel something.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saint-Denis teaches us that architecture isn\u2019t frozen in time \u2014 it evolves, welcomes, educates. It\u2019s not just a monument; it\u2019s a story meant to be shared<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This Easter, I\u2019m reminded that design, like history, thrives when it\u2019s inclusive, tactile, and alive<\/strong>. And maybe \u2014 just maybe \u2014 a chocolate egg hunt is the perfect way to open the doors of culture wide open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
